Golden Square Deliver Ford Commercial
Directing Duo Ian Cross and Stuart Hilton from Spank have recently finished the first of two Ford commercials for Ogilvy. The first aired commercial involved a huge amount of post work creating floating signs pointing to various people and objects in each scene. The tags were all built, textured, lit and tracked onto the live action footage in 3D. The tracking varied from being locked to stationary objects to tracking running players and waving spectators. The 2D work involved seamlessly integrating the 3D tags in to the live action shots.
One of the most complex tasks was the matting of the two net shots. Not only were there large and unpredictable camera moves but the fine nets were also continually moving and swaying. Each scene was tracked using a combination of both automated and manual tracking systems and the signs were then masked in to the scene.
